But we can’t show people of the same gender kissing on-screen. Amazing.

But… It’s an 18 (in the Uk) How did a TV-14 on a network channel get an 18 rating, they can’t even show a buttcrack for gods sake!

Well, aside from the brutal killings… Ok, yea it couldn’t be a 15. We need more ratings. Why not just use all the ages?

The most dangerous phrase in the language is, “we’ve always done it this way.”

"Come on, let’s mix it up!" The heart surgeon says.
"B-but we’ve always done it this way!" The other replies, "this is how you replace a heart valve."
"That’s the most dangerous phrase in the human language!" The first surgeon replies haughtily as he inputs a fruit loop into the patient’s heart. "This will be his valve. He will be a fruit loop in a world of Cheerios."

This is serious business, because this is a large part of how sexism, racism, homophobia, rape culture, ethnocentrism, etc. continue to happen.

PREACH IT GIRL

have you ever heard about condoms or other methods “to not get pregnant” girl

Have you ever heard of pregnancies as a result of rape and abuse? Have you heard of the failure rates on contraception?

Have you ever heard of adoption agencies or police stations that you can literally drop your child off at for free if you can’t/won’t take care of him/her?

Have you ever heard of the thousands of children that just get circled through social services/foster homes because there are too many kids and not enough families to adopt them?

Have you ever heard of the millions of parents wanting & waiting to adopt those children because they can’t have kids on their own?

Have you heard that a report by Unicef says there are 143 million and 210 million orphans worldwide, and this is not including abandonment, or sold children. It is estimated that 5760 children become orphans every day. So to try to make the case that it’s the responsibility of someone with a uterus to give birth against their will because other people want children is bullshit and absolutely ludicrous.

Pro-‘life’ people can first work to raise the quality of life of existing people. When that is no longer sub-par for hundreds of millions, then they can start making these arguments.
But not a moment sooner.

SIGNAL BOOST THIS NEWS! Seriously, how come this isn’t all over tumblr? Angelina Jolie presided over the largest ever global anti-rape summit. She is using her celebrity for good. She is addressing rape in wartime and in conflict zones, which is where it is perpetuated on the most massive scale and in which context always has been used as a weapon.

Feminists of tumblr should get behind this woman. Let’s stop the perpetual erasure and trivialization of women in the media through their sexualization and start looking at the work that they do. Her acts here are easily in danger of being eclipsed by her image in the tabloids which is more concerned with her relationship to Brad Pitt and the fact that she is a sex symbol than the important feminist work that she is performing RIGHT NOW.

I am such a fan of this lady… and she does not deserve to be trivialized for being a woman, a sex symbol, and a celebrity. Here, she is working for social justice for women all over the world. She’s doing what’s right.
